A nine-day teacher strike is set to begin across 20 West Midlands schools, impacting students and causing potential disruption. The Arthur Terry Learning Partnership (ATLP) trust, which runs these schools, has faced criticism from the National Education Union (NEU) over proposed compulsory redundancies. In a letter to parents and guardians, ATLP CEO Richard Gill confirmed the strike dates: January 14-15, 20-22, and 26-29. The union's spokesperson emphasizes the detrimental impact of these redundancies on children's support, while Gill acknowledges the potential disruption but denies any cuts to the central team. The affected schools include Anna Seward Primary, Coton Green Primary, Curdworth Primary, and others, with The Bridge Academy, Greysbrooke Primary, and Dunstall Park Primary not affected. The NEU's Chris Denson calls for negotiations, arguing that financial errors should not be passed on to teachers and support staff, and suggests that cuts should target the trust's high central funding contribution instead.
